Govt re-negotiating expansive agreement with IPPs to provide relief to masses: Farrukh

ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary Secretary of Railways Farrukh Habib has said the government is re-negotiating the expansive agreement signed by the previous governments with the International Power Producers for a review to provide relief to the masses.

Talking to PTV, he said the negotiations are heading in positive direction and the government has achieved some success. Farrukh Habib said people are facing problems regarding the supply electricity and huge power prices and the country is facing loss of billions of rupee due to the agreements with IPPs.

He said the government has spent 50 billion rupees to improve the capacity of the system of transmission lines.

He said the government has focused on hydel power production to provide cheap electricity to people and projects initiated will produce 12000 megawatt power.
