KARACHI: Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has said the federal government will continue its efforts and extend help for the development of Sindh including Karachi.

Addressing the party workers in Karachi  he said the local government system of Sindh does not meet the spirit of the constitution of Pakistan as all the local government powers rest with the provincial government.

Asad Umar said there should be an empowered local government system across the province including Karachi but it is not empowered politically, financially and administratively.

He added that Pakistan Tehreek Insaf and Muttahida Qaumi Movement have filed a petition in the supreme court of Pakistan regarding the powers of local government.
