ISLAMABAD: The government has renamed the highway from Kashmir Chowk to Muzaffarabad as Srinagar Highway and sign boards have been installed under the new name.
The inauguration ceremony to this effect was held in Islamabad on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Communications Murad Saeed said this highway will also be known as the 'Road to Srinagar'.
He said the day is not far when the people of federal capital Islamabad and Muzaffarabad will collectively offer prayers at Jamia Mosque in Srinagar.
The NHA has installed new name boards at Dhokri Chowk, Faizabad, Zero Point, Golra Mor and Expressway. The Srinagar Highway will be formally inaugurated on August 5 through a ceremony in two phases.
