RAWALPINDI:  Wesley Madhevere remained unbeaten on 70 runs as Zimbabwe put-up a decent 156-6 total on the scoreboard against Pakistan in opening T20I.

The right-handed batsman struck nine fours and a six to score his maiden half-century in the shorter format.

Rescuing the tourists at 34-2, Madhevere partnered with Sean Williams to score 36 runs together to put Zimbabwe to the forefront for a while.

In the end, Elton Chigumbura played a cameo of 21 runs off 13 balls laced with two boundaries and a maximum.

Birthday boy Harish Rauf and Wahab Riaz bagged two wickets while Mohammad Hasnain and Usman Qadir shared a wicket apiece.

Earlier, Zimbabwe’s skipper Chamunorwa Chibhabha has won the toss and decided to bat.

“Winning last ODI has raised our confidence and we are looking forward to give the home side a tough time in the shorter format series,” Chibhabha said after winning the toss.

Babar Azam, on the other hand, is confident to maintain dominance in their favorite format. “This series brings a lot of opportunities for us. We will try to play aggressive cricket here and win the series,” he said.

It must be noted here that Usman Qadir is making his T20I debut from Pakistan.
