LAHORE: PMLN Punjab President Rana Sanaullah Friday announced that the party Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was set to reassume the office of party president.

With Sharif receiving a clean chit from courts and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in multiple cases, Sanaullah emphasized the party’s commitment to move forward under Sharif’s leadership.

The PMLN leadership praised Nawaz’s efforts for navigating the economic challenges and lauded the performance of PMLN-led Punjab government under the stewardship of PM Shehbaz and CM Maryam Nawaz.

During an interaction with journalists in Lahore following a meeting of the party’s leadership,Rana said: “Nawaz Sharif will lead the party again and it will move forward under his leadership.” He said Nawaz had got a “clean chit” from the courts.

“We would overcome our shortcomings [under the leadership of Nawaz]. The PMLN would toe his narrative whether it was of resistance or reconciliation.”

Giving details about Friday’s meeting, he said, “Nawaz Sharif has been requested to retake the party’s leadership.” The PMLN supremo is working hard to steer the country out of economic crisis, he added.

Responding to a question, Sana said they had created the post of “Quaid” but the operational post in the party was that of the president. Following his disqualification, the PML-N bigwigs had chosen Nawaz Sharif as the “Quaid” for life in 2018.
