Pakistan calls for addressing financial crisis in face of COVID

NEW YORK: At the United Nations, Pakistan has called for addressing the financial crisis being faced by the developing countries in the face of Covid-19.

Speaking at a webinar, Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Munir Akram said the Prime Minister Imran Khan proposed debt relief for developing countries which was also endorsed by the UN Secretary General.

He said that major countries of the world and IMF should generate two point five trillion dollars to help developing countries to recover from financial crisis.

Pakistan envoy said UN Social and Economic Council has the mandate and vision to promote international economic cooperation for better lives and livelihoods.
