Projects worth Rs8.81bn approved to establish IT related infrastructure in remote areas

ISLAMABAD: The government has approved projects worth 8.81 billion rupees for provision of mobile phone connections, broadband services and laying of optical fiber in remote and backward areas of the country under the Universal Service Fund.

This approval was accorded at the 75th meeting of Board of Directors Universal Service Fund with Secretary Information Technology Shuaib Ahmad Siddiqi in the Chair.

The government has approved projects related to Information Technology worth over 14 billion rupees within three month under the supervision of Minister for IT Syed Amin-ul-Haq.

Meanwhile, Minister for IT in his message, congratulating for presenting the record plan, said the Ministry and all its subordinate institutions are working efficiently with dedication to make these projects fruitful.
