ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Petroleum Nadeem Babar has said provision of gas to domestic consumers is the top most priority of the state-owned companies.

The SAPM, in a statement, said the commodity supply to the Compressed Natural Gas sector and non-export industries has been suspended to ensure provide gas to domestic consumers.

Nadeem Babar said non-export industries could switch over to electricity due to non-availability of gas in the peak winter season.

He said local production of gas has significantly declined, on the other hand domestic consumers' demand of commodity usually doubles in winter, hence the shortage is being met through increased import of the Liquefied Natural Gas.
