Special Representative to Prime Minister on Interfaith Harmony Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi has said that Islam is a religion of peace, which does not allow anyone to utter profane remarks against Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
Addressing Ulema-o-Mashaikh Convention in Faisalabad on Sunday, he said passing derogatory remarks against any religion is not freedom of expression.
He made it clear that blasphemy hurts the religious sentiments of the Muslims as Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) is dearer to all the Muslims.
While strongly condemning the lynching of Sri Lankan national in Sialkot, he said the government has beefed up the security of minorities and foreign nationals in the country.
Special Representative also appealed religious scholars to play their positive role in promoting true image of Islam
