ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet on Tuesday rejected a summary to pledge Fatima Jinnah Park in Islamabad to raise debt through Islamic bond for budget financing.

The summary drew criticism from every member of the cabinet including Prime Minister Imran Khan, who also expressed anger over sending such proposals.

During the meeting, Finance Ministry authorities replied that providing land for pledging to get debt was only symbolic, to which some ministers said that then Islamabad club should be given in mortgage instead of the public park.

While discussing an inquiry committee on Broadsheet case, the prime minister said that Supreme Court’s former Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh is most suitable person to head the probe body.

Adviser to Prime Minister for Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam briefed the committee about massive irregularities in the National Disaster Risk Management Fund. He said that irregularities to the tune of $500 million were detected. He said that the fund was a conspiracy to embroil Pakistan in debt trap.

The prime minister appreciated the team for timely audit of the fund.

The cabinet has given go-ahead to transfer the disaster risk management to the Planning Ministry from the climate change ministry.

The Ministry of Health has also been tasked to determine the price of COVID-19 vaccine.
